My wife was cleaning out the bedroom closet (I have too much junk in it and don't throw out old clothes . . . go figure) and found a Ziploc bag with some old momentoes and a small metal box. In the box were envelopes filled with coins I had pulled out of circulation back in the 1990s.

One of them also contained my old pocket piece, a proof clad 1977-S Washington quarter. I carried this coin around in the 1990s and thought I had lost it. It's got some wear on it and it's going to go back in my pocket.

I guess I owe my wife one . . . or two . . . or a lot!

My wife tosses my clothing if it's less than wonderful. I have to hide a couple of my favorite sweaters.

Give a collector a hole to fill and it will be filled.

A pocket piece returned. Neat.

I'm carrying a 1921 Morgan dollar for my pocket piece. Is that a little crazy because of the cost and the silver content? I just thought it would be cool to get some wear on it and see what it looks like. I paid $18 for it about a month ago,

Condor101,

The mint mark has worn down into a bit of a blob, but it is a 1977-S.

I used to sit and rub it when I'd read. It took a lot of that to start to get the UNITED to begin to wear into the rim.

Glad you found it.

I misplaced my pocket piece a few years ago and had to start another one until I luckily found it after a few months.
