It's wrapped with an NGC sticker showing a grade and cert #, but they didn't crack it out of the OGP, interesting... Ok, the question: would you remove the label? My other 3 brown ikes that are still in OGP are not "certified", and I'm not crazy about the sticker. I don't care about the certification on this one, my concern is if it will leave any adhesive residue on the OGP... Thanks for your thoughts!

If you don't like it then crack it out.

I'm on the same page with you guys, but I'm worried that peeling the sticker off is gonna leave some nasty crap on the OGP... (just to be clear, I'm not removing the coin from the OGP)

NGC usually uses this type of label on GSA Morgans, this is the first time I've seen it on a brown Ike. If you don't plan to crack it, I see no reason to get rid of the label.

I would leave it "as is" and buy another that meets my criteria.

Personally, I would leave it as it is.

I'm in the "leave as is" camp. It's a cool piece. Buy one that's already cracked and save this one for a conversation piece.
P.S. I didn't know they did that either.

Hmm... the link posted by chuckster describes the label as "tamper evident". I'm guessing that means it's not gonna come off easily, or cleanly... I'm not gonna replace this one with an un-graded example, because this one was a Christmas gift, and that means more to me than not having the label stuck to the OGP. So now the question is am I crazy enough to have the other three graded so they all match...

No, you're not crazy at all for wanting the coins to match. The question I have is would you be happy with the set if the others came back as PF68s? I'd be fine with that, but I've heard of others who wouldn't be. (And I'm in the "leave it as it is camp, just for the record.)

They startted doing that back at the same time they started doing it for the GSA holders, but since for the most part the brown Ike usually weren't worth the slabbing expense you don't see them very often. I'm not sure but they may come in three different varieties depending on the seal on the back. During a short period the ANA went through three different official seal designs, and since NGC was the official grading service these seals are reflected on these as well.

You can always crack it. Once cracked you can never go back.
