This one is an oddball. Verdigris has been transferred to it in some spots. On the obverse the head is nearly bald and the border of the drapery around the neckline is nearly invisible yet the shield is well struck. It also has full toe. Same deal with the reverse. Unusually soft strikes in areas that normally exhibit those problems yet strong in other areas. The contrast between the two is bizarre. With all that said my guess on the technical grade would be xf-40 but I really hate it.

XF-40 details cleaned. That green should come off. Head suffers from a weak strike.

Bill Bugert's excellent reference to attribute New Orlean's Seated halves can now be viewed and downloaded online. The 1854-O has about 50 or so different die combinations and it's really fun to compare and try to figure out your coin. It took me about half an hour to do it for my WB-46 1854-O.
