I had been looking at adding some ancient coins to our world coin collection. When CCF member Finn posted several for sale I had to take advantage of this.

Here is our 1st Ancient Coin

It depicts Gallienus Facing right on Obverse while showing Laetitia (Goddess of happiness) facing left with a wreath and anchor.

As the title says we added our 1st Ancient(s)to our collection. That's because Finn sent a bonus coin with it. and what a cool one it is.

This one depicts a Helmeted Roma facing left on obverse
The reverse shows a She-wolf facing left with Romulus and Remus (Suckling?) below,
This was minted under Constantine I Circa 330 AD

I must say thanks to CCF member Finn235. I am total rookie when it comes to ancients and he treated my kindly with kid gloves, and is always willing to answer questions. If you are thinking about starting a collection or just want to add some ancients to your collection, Look for Finns for sale posts first.

Thanks for looking...Mont

@MC, what a great way to get started in ancients! Congrats on this wonderful beginning.

Now we just have to get you interested in medieval coinage too.

I purchased a Salonina from Finn this morning to go with the Gallienus. I can't wait until that one arrives.

One of us! One of us!

Glad to see they have a good new home!

Also I must say really impressive photography! I may need to revisit my method of white computer paper and direct sunlight. In truth I hadn't noticed how detailed Laetitia's face was on that Gallienus - it's much better than typical for that point in time.

Congrats, you are now on a slippery slope.

Romulus and Remus is a great choice to start a collection too :)

Thanks Finn. I had to play around with my lighting to get the lettering on the obverse to show up. I think I ended up having to turn off one of my Jansjos to get the shot. Leaving one light shining down from the top left.

The second photo is with both Jansjos though.
