This silver (or possibly billon) coin from India weighs 3.58 g and has a diameter of 15.6 mm. Although the coin is heavily toned, the ridges appear silvery. Although in style it has some similarities to coins of Akbar from the Jaunpur mint, and to a billon 8 gani from Muhammed bin Tughluq of the Delhi Sultanate, it doesn't match either, and it could be something totally different from these. Here are two pairs of obverse and reverse images taken in different light. I will be most grateful for any help with this.

Thank you for the suggestion, Petrus. Zeno looks like a very useful site, which I hadn't seen before. Will check through it.

Thanks again, Petrus, the Zeno database helped. I see that this coin is very similar in weight and style to two coins of Muhammad Bin Tughluq of the Delhi Sultanate. There is GG328, a billon 6 gani, and GG374, a billon 8 gani. Both weigh 3.6 g and have similar appearance to this coin. I'm not seeing an exact match of this coin with either of these, but they're pretty close. I'm sure it would be helpful to read the Persian inscriptions but this is beyond my ability.

Sorry, our posts crossed while I was looking at other photos of coins. Yes, D377 is very close too, though examining the coin under magnification I'm still not seeing an exact match, and this coin weighs less. I think if I attribute it as a billon 6 or 8 gani of Muhammed Bin Tughluq that can suffice for now. This is major progress from what I started with, which was not much. Thanks again!

These will never be an exact match unless you are very lucky to find one of the same die...
Underneath Muhammed on the reverse is the date written out - which I think is 734.

My apologies, andyg, you are absolutely right. I think I was looking at the wrong picture before, which also listed an incorrect weight. D377 from the Zeno database is a match if we consider that it is from different dies so looks somewhat different, while basically containing the same lettering. You nailed it. I greatly appreciate your help as well as that of Petrus.
