Hi I work retail and usually collect silver and foreign coins but recently I have found some coins that to me look like error coins but I'm not sure if one they are infact error coins and two if they in fact are error coins what errors do these coins have and what value these coins have. These are the two coins a 1996 quarter and a 2017 Philadelphia Lincoln. The quarter has a huge lip to the one side as well as 3 linear marks on the opposite side. The penny has me scratching my head, it is extremely thin the shield side of the coin is blank and there appears to be excess metal around some of the coin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

They both are misaligned die strikes. Not worth much, Especially the 2017 p.

The 96 quarter looks like a slight MAD or misaligned die. Small premium. The cent on the other hand I would like to have better pics of. Cropped a lot closer just showing the coin. But welcome to CCF! I'm not an expert by any means,But they will show up shortly!

I think the lines on the quarter happened after the coin was struck -- so Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

A misaligned die isn't really uncommon but your coins are more than just a little off. There might be a small premium value for the quarter. The cent is too far gone.

Keep them if you like them. I'd probably keep that quarter....

The Quarter is a MAD (Misaligned Die) and so is the 2017 P LSC. But the 2017 P LSC is worth face value (spender) because the reverse has been grinded/sanded down. The Quarter is a keeper and holds a small premium over face value.

Awesome thank you so much, so to my understanding the shield side is not an error.
