It's good deal if it makes you happy The price paid is about right for the item.

Reasonable price, wonderful coin. That's one you will enjoy every time you see it.

Thanks guys. It's (of course) a top pop with less than 500 with NGC.

Looks like a nice coin for a fair price. Since you ask, my word of advice: be careful paying a premium for coins with a 70 grade.

Quote: BH1964, would you please expand on that remark a little bit? Sure. First: a "70" grade on modern mint issues is a common grade. Many pieces submitted for grading are graded 70 by TPGs. Second: as a rule, large numbers of modern mint issues are never submitted for grading so Pop Reports are skewed creating artificially low pop numbers. This can provide an illusion of relative rarity where no rarity exists. Last: Many people chase the 70 in the first few months after release to the general public. This can drive prices to high levels which nearly always drop off and stay down within one year of issue and going forward into the future. Taking all that into account you seem to have gotten a fair price on your 2017-S Kennedy proof. $40 is a reasonable amount to pay whereas $80 or $90 would not have been reasonable. If you view ebay completed auction listings for this issue you'll see some (with special labels) that sold for over $100. To me that's nuts while $40 seems like a fair market price.

I think that price of $40 was reasonable for the coin, however, as someone else said, a 70 grade today is not uncommon for modern day coinage. I would not pay the prices that some people pay for slabbed proof 70 coins, they are way out of line, and the worry for me would be that the coin could develop a spot or more on the surface over time, which would severely reduce the value of the coin, and couple that with the good chance that the coin will go down in value anyways as more and more are slabbed in the same grade. Just too much risk for me to get caught up in that kind of frenzy. The proof 70's are nice to look at though.
