The mintmarks are different. Is the raw example just a different variety?

There are several mintmarks. One was small and another medium. They were placed in different positions relative to the D in DOLLAR. Interestingly there are four periods in the reverse after AMERICA, GRAINS, FINE and DOLLAR, even though none of these are abbreviations.

Well, my first thought was VF-35 but it could make XF-40. Scratches on the back don't look very bad.
