I purchased this coin some time ago it has been through a rough life and could use some TLC.
I haven't seen a lot of coins from the Victoria series in any denomination with a clipped planchet here's my only one do you have any?
I'm not trying to say its rare or a saught after coin its only a conversation piece

I am having real trouble convincing myself that the original coin posted in this thread is a legit clip.

The rims should dovetail into the clip and the denticles are usually almost non-existent where they occur next to the clip (the missing metal in the "clip" prevents this).

Here is a legit large cent straight clip, in an Edward VII large cent. Look at where the rim runs into the clip...

It does not look like a clip from the mint. Also, the second example posted by Fourmack looks too regular to be authentic.

SPP the edge at the clip is not beveled looks sharp like edge obverse and reverse and flat rim it looks nothing like the one you posted.

I was wondering if it was authentic as I have never seen any before in Victoria or Edward for that matter but with your pictures of your coin and explanation on it I see what you mean by the edge leading to clip

Sorry Don, I have to disagree. The examples shown in the link you posted have the dovetailing on the rims, that is most important diagnostic feature I look for in any clip. The Victorian coins in this thread do not.
