The soil around my neighborhood preserves coins very well, this one is exceptional though! It was found this summer at a nearby house.Although I must've nicked the edge a bit. This IHC was extremely well preserved and was dug around 4" Deep. It has been cleaned though with a toothbrush and water. I put a little wax on it as well to give it a wet look. It appears to still have original luster too in some areas.

No, say it isn't so!
You should never, I repeat, never take a toothbrush to any coin! Same goes for the wax. Once it was out of the dirt, a light rinse with distilled water, no rubbing or brushing! Would of probably been enough to get the soul off of it. Though it appears to be a beautiful coin, it has lost most of its value. In my opinion, the toothbrush and wax killed it.

Yeah I thought I may have done too much cleaning but I seen posts on a metal detecting forum and toothbrush and parrafin wax was one method they used to clean a dug coin. I never sell coins and simply just like having them to display and look at.Since it is dug it wasnt gonna be worth much to begin with but it is very well preserved for a dug IHC.

An incredible IHC that came out of the ground . But your conservation method leaves little to be desired . I would have given it a long soak in distilled water ,then an application of Verdi-Care . You can purchase it on E-Bay .

Never clean a coin with a toothbrush or wax. A light rinse in water is enough, if the coin is in such good condition. Unfortunately, even though it is such good condition, it has lost much of its value, because it was cleaned with toothbrush and wax.

Soak it for a long time in distilled water, then clean it with Verdi-Care.
