"Stump the Monkey" Time...aka Put the Experts to the Test!

Question #1 - I have noticed that particular and consistent to the 1972 LMC they all have a wide flat thick rim, sometimes with "rails".
Why? Why just this year?

Question #2 - Any idea how many times a coin in general circulation is estimated to be handled?
On average twice a week, 104 times a year for 45 years (1972) = 4,680 times or more the coin was handled?
1972-LMC-Wide-Thick-Rim-Construction?
Thanks.

Slight mad Coin. The die may have not been centered correctly or the die was tilted a bit creating a fin on the edge of the coin. The fin flattened and left a different look to the rim area. No premium for this, unless the rim is not flattened.
Rest in Peace

Also is an overpressure strike, when forced together the outsides have to go somewhere! Plus there may be a bit of different offset rim milling being done, deeper into the die.

Food for thought. Outside of what's already mentioned, might check the edge closer for any signs of a wide collar issue. May just be the images, but seems a bit out of round. Thanks, Doug.

Question 2: A guess on a guess is still just a guess. It would be like guessing how many times you gulped when drinking water during your life time? This question reminds me of a question that "Charlie Chan answered to his grandson. "This conversation is like TV on honeymoon. Unnecessary."

Jensule. You should crop your pic closer to the coin, and start your own thread. We can talk about it better that way.
