1996 Toonie With Date On Bear Side

hey I'm new to this site and just joined to get any help on info about the toonie I found in my change. it has the date upside down on the bear side and the head side has the 2 dollar canada on it. any info would be greatly appreciated.

Someone has popped the center core out and reversed it, the way the toonie is produced with a two piece planchet can not have a reversed core.

Yes, the cores come out pretty easy with a combination of cold and heat .. chill the core and heat the rim and apply a little pressure.

1996 was the first year for the twoonie. Assembly of the blanks was a new process for RCM. Some of the '96s fell apart in circulation.It didn't take too much effort to dislodge the core.I carry an outer ring, of one, on my key chain. It was finger pressed apart in '96.

Sounds like the core was rotated on the horizontal axis and reinserted. Queen's crown should point to 2 dollars. If rotated on verticle axis, crown points to Canada.

Take a close look at the orientation of the core in relation to the ring. You are likely to see they really don't line up. Let alone, it being upside down.
