Hello I have two 1917 NFLD one cent coins. I cannot see any really significant differences. The color of coins is much better in person, they have a nice luster and shine to them.
I'll call this #1

1917-NFLD-Large-One-Cent-X2-Grades-Pls
1917-NFLD-Large-One-Cent-X2-Grades-Pls

And this one #2

Thanks in advance for your grading opinions. And again I apologize for the pictures. I might invest in a good camera to take pictures. My mobile camera does not do these coins justice.

I'd say VF for both of them

Pics really aren't sharp enough for me to judge clearly from. From what I can tell, these might not even make VF.

Newfoundland coins circulated quite a bit, yours looks like they may be VF's but, better photos should be in order.

Hello, I have attempted to take better, (not the best), pictures of these two 1917 NFLD one cent. While doing this I noticed slight variations in the portrait. #1 portrait looks younger? Maybe it's due to one being a bit more worn than the other? Also 1917 has slight differences. #1; 1917 being slightly thinner than the #2; 1917. There are no varieties listed for this coin in the Coins and Canada 2017 35th edition. Maybe it is my eyes lol I was wearing my glasses so I don't think so. Penny for your thoughts?

#1 younger portrait? Different thinner 1917?

#2 slight difference in portrait, thicker 1917?

Side by side;

#2

#1***edited the angle of the picture***

It certainly looks like different fonts used for the seven unless it's the angle the picture was taken.
I don't see a difference in the thickness but the slanted downward portion of the seven on the top date finishes much further to the left then the bottom one.
I also know very little about NFLD coinage so let's hope an expert fills us in.

Cheers, Bill

Grades seem to be in the VG+ range.

There is no variety for the 1917 Newfoundland one cent.

The difference in the look of the date could just be the difference in strong and weak dies which would yield slightly different results when struck.

I would grade them as F12.
