Thanks everyone, I am always learning and appreciate the feedback.
What would cause that kind of damage during the minting process or counting? I assume since this is uncirculated and that does not look like a typical coin ding or movement damage while in the bag; it must have occurred after being struck?
I believe it was coop who provided a video showing the minting process (thanks, it was cool) but I was wondering if there is a step-by-step book/illustration?
A lot of terms are thrown around here like "collar", "feeder fingers" and things I have never seen.
I think if I saw it happen a step at a time and the pieces and parts were identified that would help and the marks on the coins would be easier to interpret or decipher.
It didn't happen during the minting process. The damage happened after the coin was struck. No telling how, where or why it happened. Unless you dropped it and saw it happen. It's just called a hit or Post Mint Damage ( PMD)
