1922 Canadian Small - Possible Acid Etch

wannabfree Pillar of the Community Canada 2754 Posts	Posted 01/12/2018 7:01 pm My 1st post. I recently purchased this coin in a large lot. This one intrigued me because of the lustre and fine detail. It wasn't until I had it under magnification, that I realized how mottled the surface was. Most other pennies I have looked at are quite smooth. My question is, could it have been cleaned in an acid bath, and if so, how would they get the lustre back into it. Very little money involved, I just would like your opinions as what could have done this. Thank You Report this Post to the Staff

I always knew that cleaning coins was not recommended, but, I had never seen one subjected to an acid etch. I am still amazed at the lustre that is still on it, unless this person had a way to bring it back up, and, if they did I would sure like to know how. Thanks again. Report this Post to the Staff
