I saw this link in this forum and it caught my eye because I have a simliar coins with the "S" mintmark nearly touching the "5" in the date. Here's the link to the prior post from someone else, and also a pic of my coin. Comments?

It is interesting, but not much added value (if any).

Mint marks were added to working dies by hand until 1989. Their target area was below the date and to the right of the bust, so they could be almost anywhere, or upside-down, or sideways.

It's of interest, but there isn't really any added monetary value (as Fuzzy said). Think of it as the human aspect of coin production then. There is/was a single person who punched that mintmark into that specific die that struck your coin and made it look like that.

That's pretty cool, huh?

That doesn't happen now and hasn't since 1989.

Some of the close to the 5 mint marks are RPMs. Those do have a premium. Not for location, but for the RPM.

It's a misplaces Mintmark from the person punching it in at a weird angle. Doesn't add value, but it looks very cool. Keep it because it's a Wheat cent. :)
