1957-D BIE Cent ID Help Needed! - Coin Community Forum

spru Bedrock of the Community United States 12477 Posts	Posted 01/16/2018 11:04 pm I had some time to examine a few BIEs I have tonight to try and label them. I believe I found them all except for one. There are many listings for 1955-D, but I couldn't find one that was exactly right. I also noticed the new organization of listings based on size/position of the break. I believe this one should be in either the EL+ or DL+ categories. There are also two reverse die chips on the left wheat stalk that should be a notable marker. What do you think? Sorry about the pics. They're the best I can get with my phone. Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 01/17/2018 12:22 am LBD4-55D008 4EL a bit earlier but what's interesting is the die marker on reverse is a match for the 004 4DL. All that means is a possible same reverse die or a different die state. I think by what I see, I see multiples of the same progressive chip listed as 8 -12 different entries...they look different states of same die error. Different progressive states of breaks are given a different number even though they are actually from the same die and it's obvious. I see what you mean, Crazyb0, about the 004 reverse die chip and the possibility of it being used with other obverse dies. That's a bit of a weakness in using reverse die markers for something like this. It was pretty easy last time, so maybe I will send it to JC and see what he thinks. Even if it is just an earlier/later die state of another listing, it seems it would get its own designation.
