I searched around the forums and I think I'm the first to do this, correct me if I'm wrong.

My idea was basically, someone would post an image of a small bit of a coin, and others would try to guess the country, year, denomination, etc. Based on difficulty of the image posted, clues could be given by the OP of the coin.

I guess I'll start?
Hint: The date is not identifiable from the picture shown. It's a proof.
(Not my coin, I have nasty coins and nasty photography skills)

You got the gist of it. it was an 1866 proof 3c silver. How about another? believe it or not, the date and denomination are both identifiable with this tiny snippet.

Great Idea for a topic. After a right guess you should post a pic of the entire coin the "piece" came from!

The problem with ending the quiz after the first correct answer is that many members may not get a chance to respond. I think the window should be open for 24 hours - first bingo will of course get credit.

@RCB, very interesting, but as with many things, a few CCF folks have done something similar. Here is one example:

Maybe the subject of a giveaway for your 1500th post?

Sounds like a fine idea to let this idea idle till 1500. I'll post the last few as a celebration.
