Other than the proofs and the 1922 Plain, my collection is complete. I also have a 1955 DDO. I want to get a 1972 DDO as well at some point. The vast majority of the coins were purchased at the LCS, with a few BU coins coming at coin shows. All of the coins are raw.

I never had a lot of luck finding rare ones in circulation other than a 1970-S Small Date about 20 years ago. The best finds I've had were actually over the past couple of years: 1909 VDB, 1921-S (2), 1923-S, 1932-D, 1933 and another 1970-S Small Date.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I have all the regular issues, no 55 or 72 DD, and PCGS proofs 1968 and after.

The 22 plain is raw and I've had it for 40+ years.

I had one. As soon as I completed it I stated to sell it. I tend to like completing sets more than I like having sets.

Mine was 1929-1958 bu
Circulated from 1909-1928, although some higher grades AU here and there.
Slabbed 22 plain, 09 S vdb, the others raw, if I recall.

I bought them all, none came from circulation.
None were handed down.

I have what I consider a complete set - no 22 plain or 55 double die.
The Dansco does not have a hole for the 55 doubled die.

However, there is one for the 22 Plain.

How did you buy a graded 1940 before 1934?

That was a good catch.
I am on sets #1 to #10 of Lincoln Cents. Most are complete or what could be complete. Most sets #1 to about #5 all have all including 22 plain, 55 Double, 72 Double, 95 Double.
then too there are those many 60's, 70's, 82's and all the 20009's. Then in sets #6 and up, missing many of those odd ball ones although there is the 09S VDB in all of the 10 sets. They are all in order of grade with set #1 being almost all in MS Grades dwindling down to set #10 being just about OK coins.
Started that stuff about 60+ years ago.

I agree, I don't consider the 1955 double die to be part of the normal Lincoln set, nor do I worry about proofs.

I'm on the fence about the 1922 Plain. I guess technically it's not part of the normal set, but it's so cool...

I was just pulling your leg there, Coinfrog. When I first read it, I took it as all the coins dated prior to 1934 were purchased, not that you actually purchased the coins before 1934. Only upon rereading it did I see how it could be taken that way.

I have a full Dansco (1909-2009, no proofs version), except the '22-D plain.

I consider the '22 plain an error coin, along the lines of a '37-D three-legged Buffalo. But they have holes for both!! ARGH!

Had a complete set back in the mid 80's, but haven't added anything to it since then as I moved back to older material.

I had one too except the 22 plain and 55 dbl die. Sold em all except a few.
I still wouldn't mind having that 55 doubled die.
