If you do, I'm curious how you assembled it. Can you estimate how many of the coins you got from circulation and how many you bought? Did you ever find any keys in circulation? And maybe some of the coins were handed down?

Depending on how you define complete (e.g. proofs, mint errors, etc.), mine is reasonably complete. I can tell you that I never found one of the keys in circulation.

I have a full set of Lincoln Cents. I don't really know, but maybe 50% from circulation, 50% from mint sets or purchased. I did not look in coin rolls. I only have a few proofs and those are in Proof Sets. Here is my Lincoln Highlights album where you can see the album.

I Started with a paltry handful passed down to me in a small checkbook box with a mixed lot of coins. After purchasing mass quantities of fiberglass and beer, er, bulk wheat cents in 1000/1500/500 count lots, many auction blind chance lots and various rolls of "unsearched wheat cents amounting to about 33,000 and counting, I have found no major Key dates in any of it. In specific items marked as "the good or better" stuff I lucked out twice by the dealers goof. Found 2-1910S in what was usually a 1910P spot and 2-1926S's for the same as 26D's. I did find an almost completely dateless 1922D, as a P01 if that even, more like a cull. I used to keep spreadsheets as to the exact dates gleaned from each order, what the percentages were of teens-30's versus 40's and 50's. My overall at 27K was 7.9% of all those were teens-30's and of that most were common 34-39P's. My Key dates, Proofs and all have basically been purchashed and upgraded constantly. I am only missing the 09SVDB, the 22 no D. I have all other coins, and proofs 1955-present, including small dates and varieties of the two RPM's. In essence, My small cents are complete 1857-2017 with exception of three, 1877, 1909SIH and 1909SVDB and is BU/MS from 1934 on (missing 3 dates of AU/MS). It has taken me 4 years to complete to this point, I do not forsee the unobtanium holes being filled in my lifetime, why I ask for the fakes of those dates!

I still need the 1909-s VDB and the first four proofs (1936-39), so no, not complete, but I consider it being 'close'.
I acquired 95% of my post 1940 circulated cents via circulation, but likewise had to BUY about 95% of the pre-1940 cents. Naturally, all of my proofs were purchase too.
Like many (most?) collectors, Lincolns were my first jump into the hobby, and I didn't keep purchase records as well as I have done later in life, so I really don't know my total expense for my Lincolns. I DO have accurate expense numbers for my complete circulated Canadian cent set, but that's because I had started collecting Canadian coins in the last 8 years or so.
Oh, and I was never lucky enough to find any key, or even semi-key cents. I have a feeling those are long gone.

I did have a Lincoln and Indian set...but sold it to fund another area of collecting.
Most were bought 1 by 1 over several years. And no, none of the wheat cents were found in circulation nor any key dates. Lots of shopping at coin shows, brick and mortar shops and online. It was a LONG process.

When I was a kid, my elderly neighbors had a complete set they had plucked from circulation and CRHing.

Complete set from circulation including 22 no D. Collected them with my grandfather years ago. My grandfather had penny changers in his laundromats - although by the time I was old enough to collect with him, these changers were gone. I have no idea how the machines worked except people put pennies in - maybe got a nickel or dime change? Oops - just remembered, we bought him an MS 31-S for his birthday one year b/c that was one date he did not find. Also no 1955 DDO. I found a 72 DDO, but my brother (we were kids) raided my bedroom for change to spend at the mall and it was gone.

Complete set 1909-1940 graded AU-55RB or better, excluding '22-P and '55 DD. Bought everything prior to 1934.

My dad collected Lincolns in the 1940s/1950s and found the following coins in pocket change: 1909VDB, 1909-S, 1914-D, 1922-D as well as most of the early semi-key "S" coins. The only coins he couldn't find in circulation were the 1909-SVDB, 1922 Plain and the 1931-S. Otherwise, he had a complete set, all from pocket change.

I started with Jefferson nickels, so I am just now putting together a Lincoln set. I am missing quite a few Wheats, including most keys. I have all the LMCs except 70-S Small Date and proofs. The only thing I have purchased is an album. That will change soon when I really start working on adding to the set.

Quote: Bought everything prior to 1934. How did you buy a graded 1940 before 1934?

I am three short of a full set (in Dansco 8100). You can probably guess which three. A good bit of it came from change and roll hunting, but there have been plenty of purchases made. Many of the wheat cents came from Littleton on approval back in the 1980s. Yes, I admit it.

I have what I consider a complete set - no 22 plain or 55 double die. I also did not collect proofs.
My set is mostly uncirculated so the vast majority of my coins were purchased.
