Has anyone using Danscos ever noticed that the openings for proof coins are a tighter fit than for the non proof coins?

I am moving coins from other albums into Dansco and am finding I have to spend extra time working the proofs into the openings. Are these naturally a mm or so larger, or something?

Never really noticed. I have the Dansco Ike with proofs album and all coins had to be pushed into the holes with a little force, not just the proofs. The Dansco nickel album with proofs were no problem either.

I haven't ever noticed any problems with the proof slots.

No problems in my experience.

Are your non-proof coins well circulated? It could be that their being worn just makes them an easier fit.

I noticed when I worked on my circulated Washington quarters album that the worn circulated
coins did not fit nearly as snug as the proofs. Even slightly worn made a big difference.

I should add that proof coins do have a well formed and squared rim. They have a consistent edge that is sharp where it meets this rim, often a lot more so than even an uncirculated business strike.

Good point, jbuck. A less-rounded edge will be harder to force into a album page hole.
