Seeing these are copper plated zinc planchets - there is no way to be a mixed alloy - what you have is an environmental toned copper plated zinc planchet coin!

Also the plating doesn't hold up well with acid base products added to it. Soda, ketchup, salsa, pickle juice and stuff with vinegar that can weaken the devices. On copper planchets these substances will turn the copper color pink. (Also salt will harm a copper coin) Fingerprints have contamenents and salt from sweat, will weaken the lust on BU coins.

Thanks @mark & @coop. I'm looking into better devices for this new hobby. I'm currently going through an ozarka bottle of coins and change the family has kept over the years for almost ten yrs now and it has sparked my interest.

I bought a huge plastic bottle of coin in a plastic miller bottle. Found a lot of nice older coins as it took him many years to fill the bottle. I found a nice Doubled die that was worth 2/3 of the bottles face value. (Over $90 in cents)

Nice. Yeah weve been tossing our change as a way to save within our household for years. Its been about ten years since we touched this. I'm separating them into years and trying to learn how to look for collectable coins. I havent been tossing anu bc I'm sure ive missed plenty of good coins. Theres a lot of potential here. But I need to learn what to look for. I appreciate your time.

I save the best example I can get from circulation into tubes. I figure that if something came up as a new find, I could go back through the rolls I've stashed. Keep the best, spend the rest. If you want to find something, it is always better for it to look very nice. Let the parking lot cents go back to work.
