Those look like die breaks. This is a somewhat common occurrence on Morgans. The VAMmers will let you know if there is a reference for this particular coin. Edit: better pictures may be needed, but I'm going to take a stab and say this is 1882O VAM 38B. Please don't take my word for it. I am a VAM amateur.

Two things. First, hit the "report" link at the bottom of your post and ask a moderator to move this thread to the VAM section. I might suggest that you try for clearer pictures of the full obverse and reverse after it is moved. Second, look up a site called "VAMworld". All of the varieties can be seen there.

Thank you. I would of put it in the rite section if I knew what it was. Appriciate the advice though. But I put it on here in the first place to figure out just that...what to call it. So VAM is what this is your saying?

You did put it in the right place. We sort of figured that it may be a VAM after looking it over. VAM is short for the guys who started cataloging the different Morgan and Peace varieties and die pairs, etc. There are a group of people on this site who more or less specialize in this type of collecting. I hope it is what we think.

Give the VAM folks a little while to respond. But you might well be right. Glad you figured out the site over there.

I'm no expert, but it appears to be a 38B to me as well.

The cracking on this one gets my '82s seal of approval. Can never have enough of them!
