I've been looking for an original, nicely toned Peace dollar for a very long time, and am quite pleased with this example. The textile on the reverse was the icing on the cake for me. Hope you like her. Images are from the auction.

After this thread has run its course, I feel you should disclose the price you paid. That will be the number 1 question most of us have.

For now I'll say that this coin is possibly the most valuable AU 23-S that exists. In all the years I've been looking at toned coins, this example is only the fourth Peace dollar I have ever seen with true textile.

I am not a big fan of toned coins, but I do like that one. Congrats. So what did it set you back? John1

Nice toning on a Peace is nearly impossible, as you know. Finding one with full spectrum toning is just rare. I'm guessing you paid well over book for this as a typical auction would have a lot of strong bids for this.
Although toning is usually considered to be judged by subjective impressions, I think this one would be loved by the vast majority.

Yes- that is an absolute beauty, and certainly not something you see too often.

That is probably the most extraordinary Peace dollar I've ever laid my eyes on. Goodness gracious. From which auction house was it acquired, if you don't mind me asking? This thing BETTER have a TrueView image. Checking now....

No TrueView - the PCGS price guide has it at $38, so I'm very intrigued to find out what sort of premium the color brought. I can't imagine another Peace dollar having a more spectacular tone pattern- a true monster. Thanks for sharing. You made my day.

Yup throw the price guide out the window for that one. Definitely a special coin.

Thanks for sharing. I'm new to collecting, so I may not be able to appreciate the rarity of this toned coin— but it sure is pretty!
