Hi all, due to some circumstances I've decided to sell a large portion of my collection. The bulk of it is in completed and semi-completed dansco albums, many dozens. I'm sure I could get a larger amount if I took them apart and sold the coins separately but I think the time and effort might be too much. I can't use CCF unfortunately because I don't have enough posts. Is ebay my only option? Looking for opinions. Thanks!

ebay probably will be your best bet for selling filled Danscos if you don't want to piece them out. At the very least if there's any high grade or keys have those graded first

Any individual coin valued at $200+ should be TPG for best sales results. Take good photos.

Consign the valuable ones to GreatCollections, I believe they can get them slab quicker and get you a better price, and get you a portion of value in cash up front? email or call.

If there are any coin shows in your area, go to one and talk to some of the dealers there. Might offer you a great deal.

Start by taking your collection to a couple of LCS for an overall evaluation.

The only way to sell the collection as a whole, is to submit it to a public auction, or sell as a job lot to a dealer. I hope you are tempted to do better than that. "Better" means to take a bit more effort to sell it to those who may appreciate individual coins in the collection better, or whole parts of the collection better. You need to have a reasonably good idea of the current total value of your collection. Break up the collection into large parts and enjoy yourself selling the collection on ebay. You never know, those coins that remain unsold may form the seed to the start of another collection ! My son will use all of the methods mentioned above to dispose of my collection, after I kick the bucket. He can even cherry pick a few coins to keep for himself, if he wishes to do so.

Would you tell us what state you live in? We might be able to recommend dealers that will go through all your coins and offer to buy them all.

If you are in an area that has a couple decent shows, could you setup as dealer and sell yourself? A day's setup with the sets laid out at a fair price might move a few sets at a better net price than selling lowball to other dealers. Would be a day's work though.
