Conservation isn't cleaning.

Plus you really don't have a choice but to conserve them for a lot of shipwreck finds

lol, If your taking dirt off your cleaning.

I'll message PCGS and tell them to stop marking coins cleaned and to start marking them conserved. You always have a choice, but you won't get top dollar if it isn't shinny.

Not all cleaning is conservation and all conservation is not cleaning.

Cleaning in the numismatic sense means you are disturbing or changing the metal surface.

All I know is, if I'm buying ship wreck gold. I expect some grim and muck. To me it adds to the story behind the gold and proves it was indeed under the ocean for a lengthy period of time.

there are miles between a properly conserved coin and a cleaned coin...but let's not hijack this thread, if anything start a thread to debate it

this release of coins looks quite exciting! the kind of thing that can leave a guy speechless if only I could afford such a piece! not only from the numismatic standpoint but also from the significant historical standpoint these coins possess as well!
Feel free to call me Will.
