I've resisted buying the 5oz ATB coins because of the high premium, but finally caved and have purchased 4 (I chose ones with birds on them because I'm a birder). I have to say I'm really disappointed in them...they seem flat. I almost have to hold them at a certain angle to see the features. Anyone else under-whelmed with theirs?

They are a great idea, but I saw them at shows before I purchased any, and I wasn't impressed either.
I was glad to take them off my possible buy list.

I like these 5 ounce ATB's. They are big, different, and backed by the government. I got into this series late and I am missing several of the earlier ones. I probably have close to 15 and I am averaging around $100 a piece for those. I will never have any of the earlier once's due to the crazy premium on them.

Really depends on the design.
Some of them finally reach their potential as Medalic Art in this form. Others are still the same flat, meh, design as on the circulating coin.

Yes I believe the more detailed they are the less attractive. Mt Rushmore & Teddy Roosevelt are my favorite. They are flat as all get out though. Personally I'd save up to get sugarleafs.

To me they all look good in the proof version. I haven't seen too many of the UNC versions but they are shinier, and, as mentioned, seem to lack detail.

I think I have 15 of them also. When I pick them up for a small premium over silver price I am happy the bullion issues.
I would have loved to get in at the start of the burnished ones tho. Those are NICE!

I'm glad I got in on the start of the burnished/proof series... sort of. They're great to have but at $150/puck, it's no small annual investment for coins with such a large mark-up. At the end of the day, each one has 5oz of silver and can be liquidated as such if necessary.
For this purpose, I'm glad silver isn't at $50 currently like it was at the beginning of the series. At $280 per puck, this would have been a very expensive series.

I got only 3 ATB coins and I'm not impressed either. The quality is cookie cutter and they come free with milkspots.lol
