I just found this tonight and thought it interesting. Appears to me to be lathe lines. Still Lookin

Still lookin, not only did you find Lathe Lines, but you also found a minor DDR on the right column (bar next to column in first picture). It could possibly be an unlisted DDR. So what you have here is a error and variety coin. Great find!

Chase, no that's not part of its design. If you look on his right leg (left column #7 to the right of his leg), there's a tiny bar (doubling) next to the column. It's a DDR, but a minor one.

Thanks all. I have looked at 1000s of 2001 cents and this is a first. You don't see them too often. I probably have lathe lines on 25 coins but this is the first one I have found for this date.
