I was going through my junk box of 1917-D cents, and had a 1938-D mixed in by mistake. I decided to check it while I had it in my grasp, and my very first reaction was "oh, another D/D near West." I then tried to match it to the bazillion reported RPMs for 1938-D, and it doesn't appear to match.
Two obvious questions:
(1)
IS THIS a D/D?
(2) If so, does anybody know of a listing match for it?
First the (apologetically) blurry but necessary mug shots for the obverse and reverse.

Here are the photos of the date and mm and the mm details.

Wexler's WRPM-007 is by far the closest match, but the Wexler coin's mm still appears to be slightly high and a bit too far West for this coin. The Wexler markers also appear to be absent on this coin, but in fairness this coin has seen some serious wear and tear and the Wexler coin is a nice red Unc.
The other 1938-D RPM varieties aren't close:
RPM-001 has the mm much closer to the 9.
RPM-002 has a more SW orientation, and the mm is closer to the 9 and not as far under the 3 as this one.
RPM-003 is practically kissing the 9 and definitely higher than this mm.
The coppercoins 1938-D-1MM-007 doesn't have photos, but sounds much different from this possible RPM.
The rest of the listed varieties are oriented East or South.
