Can buy for around $65. But I can't examine the coin in advance. It is guaranteed to be genuine. To me, the toning is funky but I guess it wouldn't be the first Morgan with funky toning. More of a concern is the rim ding under the date. Looks like an invitation to a "details" grade. What do you think?

About the only thing I can tell from those pics, is that it has nice circulated cameo. the ding isn't large enough to detail it. If it's guaranteed authentic from a trusted source, buy it. Looks xf to me.

I don't collect Morgans but this is the second in as many weeks that I couldn't resist.

it looks at least xf. that would make it at least a $400 coin. why would someone sell it for $65? would suspect authenticity until seen in hand.

It has the look of a cast counterfeit and I can't match it to any of the known die pairings. It looks like a C4 reverse die but the date position and mint mark are off the known positions.

Yea it looks off to me too. It has that doctored antique look to it. I hope you have a full return policy if it isn't genuine.

The coin is being sold by a pawn shop (in another city). It seems they may be selling based on a mark-up rather than actual value (keep in mind that this is NZ where US coins are little understood). The coin is definitely returnable if not genuine. Maybe too good to be true but nothing to lose expect a bit of time...

The dentils don't look right and the reverse has full MS detail on an AU50 coin. Here's a $1300 AU50 piece certified by NGC for comparison.

Yeah... the more I look at this, the more I am inclined to believe the coin is a fake. A couple of things are standing out at the moment: the shoulder gap looks wrong and, as mentioned above, the mint mark positions matches no VAMs. Time to save both me and the seller any more grief.
Note to self: stick to LCs.
