Secondly, I can see that the lettering and date just look "off" - they don't look like a legitimate Morgan dollar. The eagle on the reverse looks wrong too - it has full detail, but yet the rest of the coin exhibits AU condition wear, which means something isn't right. Finally, the coin doesn't match any known VAMs. BassPro, I can post images of my real 1903 Morgan dollar that is in AU condition if you like, and you can compare them to your fake. |

this is not my coin -silver- but I am very interested in telling real from fake. What do 'denticals' mean? I see people saying that. 'SilverDollar' if you have comparing photos please show and thanks for your time.

Here is what see that would make me believe that the coin is counterfiet. The toning is typical for a Chinese fake, there are what appears to be cast bump on the cheek. On reverse the wings look like there has been environmental damage, but most likely cast pot marks, the details in the breast feathers look better than a coin in XF condition, Dave 700 can not match a VAM. Thank you sivlerdollar. The coin looked off to me but wasn't sure. I have been going through the 150 coins I bought recently. So far they all look good.

By the way... money refunded before the coin was posted. Seller genuinely interested in how to spot a fake Morgan. Seems he has a few others from the same source.
I'm sticking to Large Cents from here on...
