Hello all,

1. I saw a previous topic in which the original poster asked whether people collect wooden nickels...

2. (I DO...) -The topic was locked, and I could not reply.

3. I wanted to add a question: Does anybody know of any specific places (tourist traps, etc) that sell these? I know that one of the shops in Wall Drug (South Dakota) has these, and so does a visitor center in Colorado, just outside the National Forest entrance to Mount Evans.

I ask, because I travel a lot, and do a lot of hiking, mountain climbing, etc. I have been to plenty of tourist places (like I mentioned above) and I see many of the elongated penny machines, but very few wooden nickels. I have found a website that tracks places for the pennies, and I also collect those. I use that website, and plan accordingly, to try to find locations for those.

A database of such places for those of us who collect WNs would be great!

Contact the Wooden Money Collectors Society. They can help you with that.

As you know, you can get huge lots of tokens on ebay for very cheap prices.

I'm sure I have a bag of them haunting some dark corner. Other than the flats and Tenino issues most of the rest are not worth much - but they are fun.

No everyone likes wooden nickels. One of our coin club members thinks that all of the them should be burned!

I don't feel that way-I have a small collection of at least 40.

Some touristy gift shops have them sometimes you need to ask because they are hard to find. I belong to the IOWMC great group. I personally like the rounds. The IkoTams sale every year has them. I have about 700 mainly US.

Yes, I collect them! They aren't edible.
