The devices on "Liberty" and "In" seem to be MD but the doubled ear might be something else?

Machine Doubling. You can see the reduction of the device.

Thanks, I wanted to be sure because of the buildup on the ear lobe and ear flap...the letters weren't throwing me but the ear lobe was worth investigating for me...
Rest in Peace

The first thing I usually do is check the two biggies for me Variety vista and Coppercoins to see if listed. Then just what ones are. This sometimes tells you what the hubbing problems were on the master dies. In theis case VV lists 1, CC has 4, all are Class 6 Distended hub doublings. This means there was very little rotational movement and dies of like wear were matched together. This makes the "balloon" details, thickness with out much separation lines, the toughest for me to spot. This is all classic MD, details are reduced, especially the lower half of LIBERTY.

Also the affected area is vertical like a wall. The normal contour of the devices are missing. As mentioned, MD is the issue.
