1963 Penny Struck Through Object? - Coin Community Forum

The indents look to be pressed and not scratched and the metal doesn't look pushed up. I'll let you decide. Report this Post to the Staff

It seems odd that there would be two struck through objects on the same coin. Plus both of them seem to be interrupted as there seems to be a central region with no damage to the field of the coin. I agree that there are no obvious signs of metal be smushed (as there would be if something was pressed into the surface of the metal). It looks like a very clean press on both sides of the coin. On the obverse of the coin, the impression barely harms the edge of the coin, but the other side the edge is a little smushed. However, that is the only place where the metal is actually pushed up and the rest is just a smooth indent. Report this Post to the Staff
