Here's a rough one from my 1919-D junk box. It can't be RPM-001, because the mint mark is in the wrong position relative to the second 9 and whatever is located north (and west) of the mint mark is too far west. The coin has serious wear and tear and clearly suffered a lot of abuse between 1919 and when it went into the junk box in the 1960s.
I can't rule out old
PMD, though it looks a bit too sharp, linear, and detailed for that. I can't rule out die damage. I can't rule out a run-of-the-mill bad alloy / contaminant / metal blob. But I also can't rule out a possible RPM. I'm
leaning toward alloy debris.
Recognizing that this one is pretty far gone, two questions:
(1) Any ideas what this is?
(2) If it could be a RPM, has anyone seen another 1919-D with a northwest oriented RPM?
