Hello all.

I am seeking help on this 1858 California Gold coin. I'm trying to see if this is real coin. I think the general rule is that if it has a bear on it, it is a token. Heritage had the same coin listed as sold a few years ago. It weighs the same as the heritage coin. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks as always.

Yes that is my understanding too.

It is a token. The bear, the word dollar is missing, and the head of Liberty is wrong.

PCGS has photos of all the Breen Gillio California fractionals. Use them to compare.

This is the heritage item. I always thought these things have almost no value. https://coins.ha.com/itm/california.../1130-9350.s

This is actually considered a charm and not a token or coin.

You really need to get it authenticated to know its value. There are so many like it that are worth $5-10 dollars. Here's one that looks like yours.
