Because the copper plating is so thin and not adhered well, when coins are struck plating can shift and stretch, split plate doubling is seen by the bluish-gray of the zinc showing thru. What doesn't "split" is affected by the vibration and causes a "ghosting" image referred to as Disturbed Plate doubling and lastly, when the image is on the outward side of the device(s) it may well be Die Deterioration Doubling. All are just SOP of making coins on plundered platypus-plated planchets. (say if ten times fast!)
