Need some help identifying this counter stamp that I'm not familar with. It's a crown with the letters G. F. underneath. Thanks in advance.

Could the title of this thread magically change to "Azores 1887 counterstamp on U.S. half dollar" or something similar so people who might be interested may see it? World forum would probably be best, too (a more typical example - on a Spain 1/2 real - was posted the other day).

This purports to be a 600 Reis denomination. These are not my expertise, but I've never seen the stamp on a U.S. piece. Interesting variety if it were to be genuine, but due diligence is required here. As that good informational post very correctly notes:
