Went to my local bank here in NW New Jersey to cash in my loose cents and get more Cent rolls to search and checked the reject bin at the bottom of the machine and then re-sub any change that was originally rejected.

I found this along with some foreign coins at the bottom!

This coin has a beautiful deep shine to it.

Researching this , I believe its a Silver Proof Dime based on the Reverse with Three Portraits left above the banner and a radiant sun below.

I don't collect Canadian money so my question is
Was this in some kind of Proof Set when issued- How does this wind up in a coin reject bin in New Jersey unless someone broke it out of a Set and then lost it?

chuckster, I think it's only a normal ten cents that was issued for 2001, actually, there were two 2001 ten cent coins issued that year.

The on you found is "year of the volunteer" design, mintage 224,714

The other one only has a mintage of 46,265

One of those popped up in the cash register at work. Surprising to get a commemorative Canadian coin besides a penny.

Hi Chuckster,

Your coin is the regular circulation version - multi-ply plated steel, 224,714,000 Minted. Currently worth slightly more than a US dime.

A Proof dime was also struck in sterling silver and issued for collectors as a single encapsulated coin inserted in a printed card folder. (Mintage approx. 40K)

Yep!
Definitely not the proof dime.

Nice frosting on the proof coin from the pics!
