I really enjoy courtesy autograph notes and I recently came across this amazing example. Fully uncirculated (minus a corner bump or two) and bright. What really puts it over the top is it was signed by D.N. Morgan. It reads: "D.N. Morgan. Treas of the U.S. June 1 1893 to July 1 1897" On the front is his engraved signature. It was removed from the frame pictured.

I enjoy them too, and that's a sweet one, Wheat! Very nice.

Cool note.

Looking where he signed leads me to believe this wasn't his first rodeo.

Super. Handwriting was something back then, wasn't it?

Absolutely. It is a lost art, one which I was never able to perfect.

Definitely from a lack of trying.

I type almost exclusively these days, unfortunately. Maybe we should all spend some time practicing our cursive (is that even taught in school these days?).

I basically gave up cursive capital letters a long time ago. Writing with fountain pens without making a mess must have been an art of sorts.

Same here. I rarely put pen to paper except to sign something.

Negative.

Yes. My son has to do it.
