Well I finally found a complete set of BU Lincoln Memorial Cents, I must say I am rather impressed with the amount of effort that went into this set... each and every coin is in pristine condition, I think the worst I've seen any coin is small ding as if it was once in a bank bag or something... Most are nearly flawless... 111 coins ... 1959-2008 +all 1960 and 1982 varieties... I bought them on ebay taking a chance; I took the chance because in his return policy he seemed very ginuine and passionate about the hobby... Quote: If unhappy please return for a refund, less shipping fees payed. If you are unhappy with a coin in the set, I can easily replace any cents that have carbon, or toning. If you are missing any cents or mints please let me know, so I can send a replacement. I usually add extras and try to include at least one bonus or even more if possible to all cent set orders. If you receive a bonus and you have no need for it please pass along to a young collector. thanks
So now I am trying to get as many proofs as I can afford for my Dansco album before 2009 which I'm sure they will most likely go up... My questions are... A.) Whats the most I should pay for BU Proof Lincoln Memorial cents i see some for $2.35 shipped to my door... is this ok? B.) Where is the best place to find them for the best price? C.) Will they go up after 2009? D.) Are there any varieties in the proof series coins?

I believe that after the new 2009 cent is produced we'll see a large spike in collecting which will make the market jump up as a whole. Local coin dealers and here are some of the best places to find the fairest prices. ebay is also an option. Have you considered buying full proof sets and cracking them open. That way you can either sell the remainders or start new albums with the other proofs

i have considered it however I cannot afford to buy all silver proof sets back to 1959, I am struggling to get 1999-2008 just for my quarters lol... and I still cant talk myself into cracking them open! I am getting my uncircs from uncirculated coin sets though... those seem to never go up in price so I have no problem cutting them up...

I'm working on a lincoln proof set too. Its been awhile since I added new coins to it though. I guess I should try to fill up before 2009.

I would go to a coin shop and talk to them about buying a set of the proof cents. I recently had the same problem and was able to pick up the 74 thru 07 proof cents for 85 bucks. I also got proof sets from 64 thru 92 for a couple hundred bucks. SMS sets included. They are fairly pricey but it is cheaper to buy them in bulk rather than 1-2 at a time.

morgantype do you have a website of email for your dealer? I have been slowly getting all the my proofs but my local store does not have that many and I am having issues trying to get them. If I could just buy them all in one purchase, that would be perfect and since most them are $5-10 a piece, $85 sounds like a great deal to me. But if someone else knows where to get them I would like to hear from you also. What scares me is that next year will have four new designs which means 4 different proofs and I have a feeling a lot more people will start collecting them when they come out.

If you go to local coin shows they usually have most of the proofs for $1 each. Some might be $2.50 or so but most are $1. If you go with ebay look for sets, that way you cut the shipping down plus sets run cheaper than individual ones. Back when I started my Lincoln set I would buy complete sets, pick out the ones I wanted then sell off the extras.

I'd like to know the guy you bought the Memorial set from if you dont mind. Also, I have all the proofs from 61 up and found it hard to find ones below 70 without toning. I suggest buying them from one person to save on shippig via ebay, or buy them from a dealer. Oh and rip those Proof sets open, you will not regret it. I have most the quarters done and love how they look in my dansco!! CRACK EM :)

Thanks for the link and the other advice. If there was a show close to me I would go and get them there, but the closest one is 2 hours one way and 5 the other, and of course the one close by is not that good. The city I am in has only 1 coin store and I have bought almost all the proofs he has (hardly any) and just trying to find other sources.
