Here's something I found in a shop today. After trial and error, I devised a way to accurately register
the obverse and reverse for this photo.
So what do you think...is it the "diving goose"? In any case, I only paid melt for it.
It's a PL coin that was briefly handled, toned and now I'd give it AU.

From what I've seen, there's a diving goose, inverted goose (coin die axis), and multiple struck dollar. Charest lists the diving goose at $125 in AU50. I don't know if mine is "diving" or merely "on approach". The rotation is about 16 degrees.

Hi Kurt, long time.

This looks like the giving geese I saw years ago and Charest lists AU-50 @ 125$. But you know my position on this variety.

Since you got it for melt this is a pretty good deal.

Marc, it's not quite the 90 degree "crashing goose", but this is the most dramatic I've seen from looking at hundreds of PL sets.
And I agree--there could still be numerous versions of this coin. It sounds like there was an initial craze for the diving goose that's keep interest going for the last 40 years?

Kurt,

A "diving goose" is far more dramatic than an "inclined Queen" or the boring "rotated die" nomenclature when describing this rather common occurrence.

Speaking of rotation, here's one of the tilting ship...

The "Diving Goose" variety has a die rotation of about 45 degrees. This one though would just be a "Rotated Die" variety - about 4x more in value than a regular dollar.

Thanks...I've compared this to the photo in Charest which seems rotated about 30 degrees. No complaints since I only paid for silver content.
