I've heard that the 1954 Canadian 1 Dollar Bill with the replacement serial number starting with prefix C/I is quite rare and has a premium. 2 Questions: 1) How can you identify a "replacement" note? 2) Are these replacement notes? If not, does the C/I serial number demand a premium by itself? Thanks

Replacement notes have a * before the serial number (as in *C/I). Unfortunately yours is not a replacement. As far as I am aware, the regular C/I does not command a premium.

Close, but it is the replacement note wit a CI prefix that is valuable. What you have is the regular note that had 40 million printed.

Delareece- I'm not sure how many 1954 bills you have, but have you checked them for the Devils Face portrait series? Any in that series is worth considerably more than the modified series.

Yeah I'm having difficulty actually seeing the Devils Face in the examples I've seen online. I have quite a few 1954 bills and I've done a quick look through them without seeing anything... but then again I may not even be looking for the right thing. Do you know any good references or side by side comparisions you can point me towards?
Also, is there an easier way to identify the Devils Face series? Like, were they produced between two certain serial numbers? Or maybe have a different prefix than regular bills?

One easy way to know if they are Devil Face Notes is simply by looking at the signatures. The 1954 series was in use for 2 decades from 1954 to 1973. But the Devil notes were only printed between 1954 and 1956. So there was only 2 possible signatures for Devil notes. They are either Coyne-Towers or Beattie-Coyne. Anything outside of those 2 signatures cannot be Devil Face Notes.
Looking at your signatures, Lawson-Bouey, they were the last in the series, probably in the early 1970's. So don't bother even looking for it because they are the modified series.
