Poll Question
As most of you know, I am in the market for a certified $3 gold Indian Princess coin to highlight my gold collection.
I am also in the market for a 1909-s vdb(king of wheaties) to complete my Lincoln set(i will only be missing the 22P). Again, I would only by one certified. I'd really like to have this coin, but I'm wondering if I missed my chance already as these coins have already taken off in value.
Say I have about a $1600 budget for either of these coins.
Anyways, if you had the option, which one would you get? which one do you think would make a better investment? again, just looking for opinions.

I voted for the 1909S-VDB. Full disclosure: I do collect LHC; I do not collect gold.

...I also voted for the 1909 S VDB Baby !........ I have 5 or 6 gold coins (Ultra Moderns...Buffs, Eagles, Comem's.) ...But gold is just too expensive and will be for quite some time. And the "rollercoaster ride" with the gold market....eehhh... ...But such a hard decision with the "Classic Gold" coins too...$3 Gold Indian Princess ?..WOW!!....real toughie !...I'm 52% to 48% leaning towards the VDB S.... I think the "King of Wheaties" will be SOOOOO SWEEEEET ! to have !... ......and you know the Lincoln Cent is about to change AGAIN !...So the value in these old ones will have a "spike" for quite sometime as the interest in them peaks.....so now might be the time to get it!....."that" value I'd wonder if it wouldn't just hold forever too.....

Considering that next year is the 100th anniversary, and a ton of promotions will go along with it, the S VDB seems to be a sure bet.

Don't let those penny-pinchers sway your opinion, go for the gold!

Quote: HUMONGOUS pictures Woah! 2336 x 3504 @ 3837.29 KB Given the great pictures and being in a top-tier slab, I think it's worthy; but I am going to wait for comments from the grading experts here! We have one vote for the gold, who is it? Fess up! EDIT: Quote: Don't let those penny-pinchers sway your opinion, go for the gold! Now there are two of them!

There is no 22 P. The 22 no d which is a 22 d with a very worn die.

Man, that's a tough decision. You got the rarest penny (except for maybe a really good Double Die 1955) vs. a sweet $3 golden Princess. What are the trends on the two? Have you checked old Red Books to see which one is going up in value the fastest, and most consistently? I would study the trends, and then go for the one which will be worth the most in 10 years time. I'm a newby, so don't necessarily listen to me. Go with what the experts say.

Rarity vs popularity (liquidity). Although the 09-s vdb is not that rare a coin, there is, and always will be a strong market for them (just like the cc morgans). As for the coin in the link, it does nothing for me. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money, I want something with some serious eye appeal....... and I probably want it in pcgs plastic. JMHO.

I voted for the 1909 S VDB. Your budget would fit an ANACS certified AU 50; in any case only buy a certified coin even if you go down a grade. There are dozens of choices in a $3 Princess; over 40 years of choices in fact. In this case go for the copper! Some day you will find your Princess.

Frankly, I dont agree with ANACS' grade. That coin has substantial circulation. Therefore, to me, the starting bid is the bargain; much above that is standard price for a coin in XF condition.

substantial enough circulation it's dinged and damaged.

Here are a couple of other Lincoln s vdbs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...photohostinghttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...WA:IT&ih=021I like the look of the second one, though the price is a bit high for a VF-20...thugh negotiable. Requested larger scans. I've collected lincolns since I was a kid, but I still don't know what to look for as far as eye appeal goes. I can't afford a red MS one, nor do I particularly like those. I like the even light brown color(like the second one listed here), but was wondering what you Lincoln nuts consider great eye appeal in an older Lincoln?

Go for the AU - if it fits in your budget. It will be much more satisfying, and you will complete your set to top it off!
