Hello,

My husband and I found a bank note and coin collection in the back of our closet. It contained a bunch of money from around the world including this Japanese 100 pesos bank note. Is it worth keeping?

We need pictures !

In general, however, Japanese Invasion Notes (JIMs), are still worth the same as they were in WWII, that is, nothing beyond a token amount. Put up pictures, maybe it's a scarce printing or something.

Japanese occupation currency is in general extremely common, typically found in a coin shop's box of "bargain" banknotes.

I'm more curious about what other notes and coins were in with it.

An earlier, serial numbered type that's nice and crisp, definitely better than the typical "bargain" bin fare.

That note is an above average JIM, definitely a keeper for a while. Do get some mylar sleeves to put your notes in if you don't have any already.

Do take photos of the rest of your stash and post it, both sides. We'll be glad to let you know what you have.

Don't take any of it in to a coin shop until you know more about it. You could end up selling the good stuff for a few dollars and be left with the dregs.

The note you showed us is worth about $8, but they do sell well in UNC condition. I would expect a retail offer of $4 for it at a shop. Not much, but a lot of notes and coins can add up, and nice condition is always in demand.
