I have 1125 coins in my main US collection. Some more in my US Type set. More yet in my 1966 World Coin set. Quite a few more in my "coins I just loved and had to have an example of" set. Then you get to my accumulation/hoard. After that is the stuff I have that I don't know why I have it.

Well it depends if I count the bags of Wheaties I have lying around and the ten 5 gallon jugs of Nickels I have been saving. My active collections of coins would probably be in the hundreds but add to it my darkside hoard and we are talking tens of thousands.

Quite honestly I don't have a clue as I buy, sell and trade so often! Many times I completely forget about some coins until I stumble onto them again!

I don't think a long term collector will be able to answer this question with true impunity....I can remember the time when I was a new collector and was always hasseling this very experinced and long time collector as to how many coins he had in his collection. I can never forget what he said when he replied that he does not quantify his collection in numerals but in kilos.

My answer would depend on whether or not I count the Lincoln cents I have been saving since the 1960's. That would jack the total up by about 50,000. Of course I guess that's hoarding, and not collecting.

great poll I would of though most people would of had more but looks like I am in the average of those who took the poll of 100-500, I am a new collecter, so I can list most of my thing I only counted the coins that were in folder or 2x2's. I have 5 set of state quaters one of each member of my family, almost complete Mercury dime set, wheat set almost done, 11 ASE, and a lot more mix type and have about 6 really nice ones for my 7070 type set

I know that many would not consider what I have a "collection" but it is still in its infancy. I started collecting Bust Halves in 2005 and so far have 2 of them. This is my actual collection. Two may not seem like much, but I love both of them and plan to add a few more this year. I planned on this being a slow-growing collection. Since I sell, I would hurt myself too much if I tried to collect multiple series. I'd collect all my profits! I had a collection of between 500-1000 coins but sold that collection in order to get our business started.

I haven't added everything up in detail, but my hoard probably contains roughly 30,000; perhaps a little more. I'm sure I will top the 50,000 mark eventually. Of course, most of these coins are dirt-cheap ones, such as bulk wheat cents and older Jefferson nickels, but there are some nice, valuable ones too. Heather

60 coins that I count as being in the 'good collection', with another 40 chucked in a bag that are disposable at notice, how they've survived this long is a miracle.

Here in the UK I must have almost 2000 but counting the Spanish ones that I keep at mum's in Barcelona is well over this figure.
