I would like opinions on a 1999 nickel. I have never seen a coin like it. To me it looks like rough ice you scrape off your windshield. I am wondering was it made this way or something weird happen to it. It is a good looking coin to me but it's clearly abnormal. It's pictur3d next to a regular circulated nickel for contrast.

to CCF. My first thought is acid damage,my second thought is some kind of heat source?
