Was on another coin sales site(not ebay's pathetic offerings) ah, these ain't much better. Here's how they were listed. #1 is said to be a Misaligned Die on both the hammer and anvil dies while it's look-a-like cousin #2 is just said to be an "out of collar strike". I'm pretty sure these are NOT what is the described error. Sure look like an encased or bezelled coin that has lost it's shell. HUH?
More of damage from an encasement in a holder. (I don't think a bezel would damage a rim on a coin. Just solder would) An encase coin is pressed into the holder damaging the rim area of the coins. If you have one of these coins, leave it in the holder. It is worth more there than a damaged coin will have with it removed.
The coin in the above auction is only worth face value.
