Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and looking for some help. Could someone please help me to determine the year on the Standing Liberty quarter. I've read somewhere that there is a way to tell the years apart.

Your coin is a variety 1, 1917. Stars or no stars below the eagle on the reverse also determines if it's a variety 1 or variety 2 . Plus if her hair curls up it's a variety 1 and if her hair curls down it's a variety 2.

Search the forum for past posting. Google is also your friend.

This is a good post that shows the 1916 and 1917 side by side.

Yours looks like a 17 based on the above diagnostics.

The clear rivits in the shield indicates a 1917.

Aren't the rivets closer together in the Variety 1?

The best indicator, to me, is the bottom of the drapery fold just to the left of Liberty's foot - on the 1917 (like yours), this drapery bottom curves up on both sides, while on the 1916, the drapery bottom stays flat almost all the way to the foot.
