What do you think? I normally would toss something that looks like this one but the way it was worn look different, I was thinking a dremel tool or maybe struck through something.

It was done after leaving the Mint. If it was a "Struck-thru" error, it would have obliterated the letters "NT" of CENT and part of the wheat stalk with whatever debris struck thru the cent.

It is a "struck-thru".
I see the impression of iether a small bolt, ot larger piece of wire wit som gouges or other type damage. It is also slightly bent, giving the semi-circle form to the upper ege of the mark left on the cent. the rest appears to be extreme wear, over the years. In soite of being a 1941-D, it has seen better days.

Nice find chrsb! I think it left the mint that way but less worn.

1940s at the US Mint's most minds were on the WWII and not there work. most of the worker had on there minds thinking like if there sons, dad, brothers& friends and Joey the paperboy would make home.

If we were to be under Nazi rule.

Thinking like that make you tend to let things you would have scraped go!

Have you had a chance to weigh it? My guess would be post mint.

Vermontesium is correct with the details, if it was a struck-through the details of the N, T, and wheat leaf would not be there.

What is left of the NE of ONE is flattened. A sure sign of damage.

Any number of things could have happened to this coin as a form of damage. It is not a Mint error though.

Thanks,Bill

I based my comment on the dark, partially curved area from the rim, across the right wheat sprig, and on in to the center. That I what I believed to be a "struck-thru".

My mistake! I just put enough magnification on to see the wheat sprig. Yes, the design is there. Sorry. Post mint!

Yeah, chrsb....I am glad that you are OK. There had been some major weather issues in that part of the country.

Good to see you in there again...
